This really resonates- thank you for sharing! Have been on a similar mission myself, to untangle myself from the all-consuming logistics of keeping a family afloat and you contextualized it perfectly. I know we can do it! 💗
Such a great essay that summed up so much of how I am feeling about motherhood. We give so much of ourselves to our kids and then often there isn't much else left. This inspired me to come up with a list of my own to bring fun back into my life!
The tennis clinic is a great idea! I LOVED joining one in my community! I met other women and had a blast! You could add learning to play mah jongg or bridge to your list, kind of old lady games historically, but if you learn now, you'll be playing them forever? Mah Jongg is on my list!
You and Kristin Kennedy inspired my interest in tennis! I immediately googled to see what my local options are and found the tennis clinic! Now to sign up 😄
Mahjong is so much fun too! I need to see if there is a local group that plays that I can join!
This line crushed me in a shared knowing, “You can only go so long without having fun before you start to lose your sense of identity.”
First and foremost, I see you and I feel you. You are noticing something real.
I think it was Liz Gilbert who said something, do what you loved to do when you were 10 to evoke fun, joy and awe. That would be my launching off point.
It’s so funny that you mention Liz Gilbert because I was thinking about EPL while writing this! Her advice is spot on—reconnecting with what brought us joy in our childhood can be a powerful way to find our true selves again. I’ll definitely take that to heart as a launching point. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much! You’ll have to share what you put on your list!
