Last month, I redefined my goals for the rest of the year. I still can’t believe we’re halfway through 2024. Time flies when you’re having fun!
Earn $200 in commission through affiliate links/commissions by promoting products through social media and newsletters.
Thanks in large part to sale season, I met this goal! I wouldn’t normally promote the sales as much as I did, but with my goal in mind, I knew it would be a miss if I didn’t. I also got some nice, encouraging messages from people. I always expect people to say something mean or snarky, but I didn’t receive any messages like that. I’d assume some unfollowed, and that’s okay! But the nice messages were a little boost that I didn’t know I needed and helped me embrace my goal.
I’m happy to share that I met this goal! In total, I earned just over $250!
Set up a meal planning schedule for each day of the week and buy healthy groceries using online resources or apps.
I had a vision to set up an actual schedule that was something along the lines of (M - pasta, T - TexMex, W - salad). That didn’t happen but we did buy a lot of healthy foods and utilized our farmer’s market more than normal. I even made a point to stop by a farmer’s market when we saw them around just to see what they had. My mission was to always buy some fresh bread and I can assure you, I didn’t need encouragement beyond fresh bread 😉 I talked more about how much I have been enjoying eating healthier and buying fresh produce in my July recap post.
Lose 5 pounds following eating more whole foods and increasing my daily exercise.
I did it! Less so because of exercise (I fell out of my routine this month since we had so many visitors), but we did make a point to eat more whole foods and locally grown foods. I’d imagine much of the loss is due to my hormones resetting. We’ve even almost entirely swapped to homemade breads, which I know are not whole foods but are a big deal (and so good!).
Establish a simple skincare routine by researching and purchasing necessary products and following the routine daily.
I have been working on using up the rest of the products I have before switching over to some others that I will hopefully like more so more to come! But I have been enjoying the routine.
Stretch 7 times.
I didn’t stretch a single time, so I’m keeping this goal for August! I just need to do it. I’ve unintentionally obsessed over the fact that I don’t have a good video to guide me or know how long I can do it for. I didn’t say “stretch for 10 minutes 7 times”. Even a minute will be better than nothing. Baby steps!
Drink 24oz of water before having coffee each morning.
I’m like 30% yes and 70% no on this one. I have been delaying having coffee as soon as I wake up. Now I wait about 30-60 minutes, which has been helpful in my overall anxiety and how it makes me feel. But even with bringing my filled water bottle with me, I don’t always reach for it. Maybe it’s something to continue to work on? I like how not having coffee immediately makes me feel, so I will keep this habit.
August Goals
August will bring a lot of big changes to our home, and it’s so bittersweet. My husband is heading back to work on Monday after he was laid off earlier this year. It’s made for a challenging few months and we’re so happy he was able to find a new job. Despite the challenges, having him home has been such a nice time for all of us. It will be a big adjustment for everyone to not have him home all day every day.
My son is also starting daycare full-time. He’s 20 months old. It’s time and he’s so ready for daycare. But I will miss him being at home so much. I need to figure out something we can do to signify the end of this chapter. I know we will have plenty of opportunities to spend days together again with sicknesses and random days off, but it’s just not the same. All that said, I am so excited to watch him learn and socialize with kids his age.
Because there are so many new, big changes happening all at once my days will look very different all of a sudden. I have the urge to craft a schedule for my days and weeks and see how I can fit everything in that I want to do (movement, prep dinners, take an actual lunch break, etc.) on top of the things I have to do (daycare dropoff and pickup, work + meetings, etc.) but I am fighting that urge with every fiber of my being. Instead of making a plan, I’m just going to let it flow and see how it goes. Instead of trying to make everything fit into a certain box, I’m going to see what fits in the box or see if there is another box we can use. I don’t know… it’s freeing to just wait and see what happens but I still really want to make a schedule so I have an idea 😬 But I’m going to make myself take it slow.
Here are some goals for the month:
Stretch 7 times.
Earn $200 in commission through affiliate links/commissions by promoting products through social media and newsletters. I am going to try this one again without Amazon Prime Day
Engage in physical activity (weightlifting or walking) for a minimum of 3 days and up to 5 days each week
Lose 5 pounds following eating more whole foods and increasing my daily exercise
Notice and reduce the amount of multitasking I do
